Steve Arvey -
Celtic/Irish
|
Most people know Steve Arvey from his long History in Blues Music and
Great Renditions of Classic Rock songs. In 1991 after he left the band
West Side Heat, Steve saw The Great Irish songster in concert
Christy Moore. Arvey was so moved by Christy that he started
studying Celtic/Irish Music.
So he went to the Old Town School of Folk Music, and totally immersed
himself in everything he could. I found all these folk guys, like
(Tommy) Makem and Tommy Clancy, and I really fell in love with it, he
said in a interview conducted in Edinborough Scotland in 2005.
In 1994 Steve was also approached by the publicists for the Irish
beer, Harp Lager. After that interview, Steve spent two years
performing Blues, Rock, and Irish music, sponsored by Harp, for 150
dates a year at clubs throughout the Chicagoland area.
In 1996 Arvey formed the Chicago Rovers and stayed with that band till
2002.
Steve Arvey has performed at Folk/Blues Festivals in Ireland, Scotland
and England performing his blend of Blues/Celtic and songs from
Americana
Arbroath Seafood Festival Arbroath Scotland 2005
Isle of Man Festival England 2001
Guiness Blues Fest Ireland 2001,2004
Fringe Festival Edinburgh Scotland 2005
Orkney Blues Fest Scotland 2003
When Steve performs his version of Danny Boy at Irish Weddings he establishes
a great rapport with the guests. |
