compromise. That's what our clients expect! Patrick Vining is a
rare pleasure that only comes along every now and then. Steeped
heavily in a Church singing tradition out of the Southland, it's quite
clear to anyone who listens to this gifted singer, that Patrick is the
kind of entertainer that delivers a sweat driven, dynamic presence
onstage. You can't tell us after listening to this man sing that
you can't hear a whole mess of the Gospel in the core of his delivery,
which is always smooth, strong and biting, all in one note! Couple all that with a gift for song writing and you've got quite a package. Well that's what we think about him. Listen to that voice! How can you blame us? It's ok, we don't think you do....
1998 found Patrick with a heralded release from the venerated but
alas, now defunct Indie Records Label, Ichiban Records out of Atlanta.
Ichiban was no slouch and their releases have stood the test of time.
Mr. Vining is exactly the kind of Artist that Ichiban had the taste,
talent and good sense to ferret out and promote. Shortly after
that release Pat toured most of the Southern USA...many times to
packed clubs. Everybody wanted to hear "Big Pat" deliver that
now well known, Big Voice in all of the numbers he's known for.
Ichiban, unfortunately, folded not too long after that, yet still,
shortly afterwards, JSP Records from London quickly pulled the trigger
and scarffed Patrick up.
Now...anyone who knows the Blues Business knows that England takes
it's Blues very seriously, so the signing of Patrick Vining to that
label was not only important in terms of it's momentousness, but was
also a testimony that Pat had very definitely arrived on the
international scene as an Artist of special noteworthy
attention. During several seasons of two hundred plus dates
yearly, this important live work found him opening for the likes of Blue Oyster Cult and Edgar
Winter but after all was said and done, a bit weary...and any
performer will tell you, sometime they just need a break from "the
life" if nothing else, than to collect their sanity. Touring is
hard work! Anything over one hundred and fifty
performances a year is back breaking and sleepless work. Well
guess what; Patrick's BACK!
