2010 Grammy Winner Lifetime Achievement - Blues Legend - David "HoneyBoy"
Edwards
HoneyBoy Edwards is the last living link to Robert Johnson. The
last one alive to be able to say that he's played and sat with him as his friend.
He was there when Johnson took that fatal, tainted drink of poisoned
alcohol which took his life. And to this very day his artistry is
resilient and vital to the legacy of the blues which only the American Heartland
can claim to have born.
For generations over every part of the globe "The Blues" is loved,
admired and revered as that singular source of soulful music which
inspires many of its listeners to travel thousands of miles just to
see one of the Legendary greats pluck away at the heartstrings of
its audience.
With numerous albums to his credit, he's recorded for the venerated, Chess Records, Arc Records, Earwig Records and The US Library of
Congress, which, if that was all that he's done would
distinguish him. But there's so much more to his story.
There is no way in the space of this profile we could recount where
and what he's accomplished or where he's been.
HoneyBoy's life has been intertwined with almost every major blues
legend, including Robert Johnson, CharliePatton, Big Joe Williams,
Rice "Sonny Boy Williamson" Miller, Howlin' Wolf, Peetie Wheatstraw,
Sunnyland Slim, Lightnin'
Hopkins, Big Walter, Little Walter, Magic Sam, Muddy Waters, and...well, let's just say the list goes on darn near forever.
At 94 he continues to astound audiences wherever he plays.
"The Blues" is a long, long road. Many who play it professionally will
tell you the road never ends. This legacy which HoneyBoy is
now the undisputed Elder Statesman of, places him firmly in the
annals of blues history for all time. He waited a long time for this honor. It's pretty clear to see
his pedigree. All you have to do is watch the video below. Worldwide TMA's strategic association with
Michael Frank's, Earwig Records is allowed the privilege to
represent him.
